IMMUNITY, the term is often used in day to day conversation when it comes to a topic related to health. But, what is immunity?
Immunity is basically the power of your body to fight against the foreign invaders (bacteria, viruses or any other disease causing pathogen) and to protect self from the disease.
So, basically a person with better immunity have less chances of falling sick.
Before moving further, Let's be aware of some other terms which are necessary to understand immunity-
Immune system- It is the sum total of all the organs, cells, other components of the body that are involved in providing immunity.
Immune response-
Immunology- It is the branch of science that deals with the study of immune system, immune response, immunity & immunologic techniques.

Immunity works through the help of various organ, cells & immune component substances present in the body.
3 line of defence.
Immunity can be divided into two category ,namely :
1. Innate immunity and
2. Adaptive immunity.
INNATE IMMUNITY:
It is also known as the natural/native/inborn immunity.
This immunity is present from birth within us and it's response is non-specific type, which means whatever may be the type of disease attack on our body, this immunity irrespective of the type of attack responses and tries to eliminate the threat.
It is the first line of defence, which starts the primary immune response to protect our body.
•This immunity is further sub divided into four categories based on their nature
1. Physical.
2. Physiological.
3. Cellular.
4. Chemical.
ADAPTIVE IMMUNITY:
• This immunity is further sub divided into two major groups based on the medium of their action-
1. AMI(ANTIBODY MEDIATED IMMUNITY)
2. CMI(CELL MEDIATED IMMUNITY)
